jazz organismLIVE IN DUBLIN (Organized Discs)RATING: 3/5This album was recorded while Sydney guitarist Jeremy Sawkins was living in Dublin. In Irish organist Justin Carroll and New York drummer Jonathan Mele, Sawkins foundkindred spirits to continue an organ-based project that he had begun in Sydney, and has re-established here since his return. Captured live, this band loves playing with space and mood. Ideas slowly ferment as sparse, three-way dialogues, with a premium placed on maintaining a given piece‚„s atmosphere as solos unfold. Occasionally, that restraint is just saved from stasis by an injection of urgency.Sawkins penned the material, with the exception of a suitably autumnal Old Folks.
